What is Zumba?
Zumba is a fusion of Latin and International music - dance themes that create a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness system. The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Zumba utilizes the principles of fitness interval training and
resistance training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning. It is a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps.

HISTORY
Celebrity fitness trainer, "Beto" Perez, stumbled upon the concept of Latin inspired fitness in his native country of Colombia, in the mid 90's. One day, he walked into his class and realized that he had forgotten his aerobics music, and his only option was to grab whatever tapes he had in his car.

Beto’s tapes were comprised of the songs traditional salsa and merengue music. It was a challenge to improvise a whole class on the spot using non-traditional aerobics music. From this last-minute improvisation was born a revolutionary fitness program – Zumba! The class soon became the most popular class at his fitness facility and exploded around the Miami fitness scene. Over a decade later, Zumba now spans the globe with over 10,000 instructors spreading the fever all over the Americas, Europe, Asia, South Pacific and the Middle East.
